Website dedicated English teaching in schools in Tokyo, Japan. We received a Wordpress site and started working on requirements with the client. We developed a 100% custom plugin for student management. Each student has access to read articles and teachers have access to view the reports for each of their classes. Administrator users have full control over the reports and details of each student. The site can be accessed at ReadOasis.com

Wordpress plugin development

The plugin integrates three types of users (Admin , Teacher and Student). Each type of user is able to perform different actions. The student management system is combined with a theme installed to give a responsive design (adapted for mobile) and a set of plugins installed to improve website performance. The custom plugin allows the following actions according to the user type.

Student: They can read articles and by using a button it can get the time that was needed to perform the reading. Everything is automatically updated in the system (time , number of words read and date). Students can also make an entry in a book to be read externally (outside the system) loading title, publisher and number of words. A Word counter was installed to facilitate this process.

Teacher: They have the ability to create classes and associate students. They can manage each of their classes, add and remove students, review student reports, filter by date through calendars. They can also export the data in CSV format to use other tools such as MS Office Excel or Open Office Calc

Admin: have a total control over the students and classes in the system. They can manage everything and can also export the data in CSV format to use other tools such as MS Office Excel or Open Office Calc

Wordpress upgrade for PHP 7

In 2019 we made a full upgrade for this Wordpress plugin to meet PHP 7 compatibility. At this time, we also made a full branding redesign when site changed his domain. We have also improved UX for mobile devices.
